Happy February babes! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Though we should celebrate the love of our significant other, besties, and cats everyday; Valentine’s Day is a particular day to go out of your way to show all of the special babes in your life how much you love them!
Whether you are celebrating with the love of your life, a blind date, or your best friend it never hurts to sport a new outfit! If you are a bit of an anti-Valentine’s Day gal think of it as another occasion to shop and eat endless amounts of chocolate covered strawberries and candy guilt free!
For my anti-V*day babes, trust me…I have been there. Seriously, look at my Galentine’s Day post from last year! I was flicking off a heart balloon for heavens sake…lol (see photo above). This year I have quite a different outlook on the holiday, considering I am with the most incredible man I have ever met! Regardless of that fact, I still think I would feel differently about the holiday even if I did not have him in my life.
Self love has always been important to me, but lately it has been crucial in my life. Living in LA you are surrounded by beautiful people constantly. Some naturally beautiful, some may have had a few enhancements. Seriously, all of those beautiful people you stalk on IG are every which way you turn here. It is so easy to compare yourself to these models and actors, and as much as I hate to admit it I envy them sometimes. The clearest skin, long eyelashes, a rocking bod, and perfect hair…need I say more? Though they may look flawless on the outside, I have learned it does not mean they are not struggling on the inside.
You can look at the most beautiful girl in the world, and it means nothing if she does not love herself. So, instead of harping on the fact you do not have a boyfriend, or are single for life, take Valentine’s Day to celebrate yourself. Celebrate the love you have for yourself and your beauty. Heck, even if you have a boyfriend I still think you should use Valentine’s Day to celebrate the love for yourself.
I challenge you to look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself 10 things you love about you. Remind yourself what makes you beautiful. Spend Valentine’s Day doing something that makes you happy. Whether it is working out, indulging in a tub of ice cream, grabbing some in-n-out, shopping, heck even singing at the top of your lungs in the shower. Whatever makes you happiest, DO IT! Do not spend the day being sad and thinking nobody loves you because YOU ARE SO LOVED!
Don’t forget to shoot all of your loved ones a text on Valentine’s Day to remind them how much you love them, and I am sure they will reciprocate the love right back. We need more positivity and love than ever right now, so why not start the love train with yourself?!
