Tis the season of pumpkin spice, and everything nice. As the leaves change colors, it is time to put your summer clothes into hibernation. Whether you relate fall with the colorful leaves around you, the sudden temperature drop, or the fact everything in the grocery store seems to be flavored, “Pumpkin Spice” –the time has come to update your fall wardrobe.
Fall is, by far, my favorite season to shop/dress for. Fall is a time of renewal and reflection. The year is almost over, and it is a time to reflect on how you want to finish your year off. Plus, a new season of layered ensembles allows for your creativity to flow when you are getting dressed in the morning. Every season calls for a “must-have” post, and since fall is my favorite season to dress for you are certainly in for a treat, babe. I will be linking my fall essentials below, so keep scrolling.
A cozy, oversized sweater is always a staple in my cold weather wardrobe. I always invest in at least one… or three, neutral colored oversized sweaters every year. Let’s be real I buy pieces as I find them, and a girl can never have too many comfy sweaters! Anyways, this season I am finding a ton of comfy sweaters with rad details to them. I love this Cozy Lace Up Sweater from Tobi.com (again with my favorite website to shop).
The open back and lace up detail in the back, allows for you to take cozy to sexy. Pair with a lacey bralette, or try a backless bra to show some skin. Not into the backless look? No problem babe! Throw a color coordinating cami underneath.
I love a cozy sweater because it is effortless and stylish, comfort. You can wear this sweater with virtually anything: leggings, jeans, shorts, over a maxi dress, layered over a tube dress, and I even tried it on with a skirt. However, if you are purchasing this particular sweater I suggest sizing down, as it ran a bit large. If you are going for the super oversized look, stick with your size! I have on a Medium in the photos.
I am sure you have seen Kendall Jenner sporting a pair, and every Topshop and Zara it girl has a pair. Sock booties are a must have this fall. Sock booties are the ankle boots that are tight around your ankle, they fit almost as if they are a sock. Pair these above the ankle booties with a pair of boyfriend cropped denim and you will be a fashion babe of the times.
Lace Up Dress
Lace up bodices are just about everywhere the season. You can find the lace up detail on bodysuits, sweaters, tops, skirts, and even jewelry. My favorite of all of the lattice detail, is a lace up dress with the lattice (lace up) in the front. This Laced Up High Shift Dress is a great style to pair with your favorite boots and a pair of tights for the crisp fall days.
I played up the 60s/70s look with my shag vest and oversized tassel earrings. I loved how long the ties were, so I was able to create a choker look by simply crossing the ties in the front and wrapping one tie double around my neck. A two in one dress and accessory? I am all about it!
Chokers add that instant flare to any ensemble. I don’t know about you, but the second I put on a choker I instantly feel like a stylish badass. Now, chokers are varying in styles over than the simple 90s staple. You can find them in denim, lace, and with little pendants.
Velvet is totally killing it this season. If you do not own a piece of velvet clothing in your closet, let’s change that right now! A velvet shift dress is a great piece to invest in. It is super wearable! You can sport it during the day by wearing a knit t-shirt underneath, or glam it up by wearing simply the dress, a choker, and some killer pumps. Totally 90s, and totally divine.
Denim is having a moment this season. You are going to see a lot of denim embroidery, interesting hems, and mom fit jeans this fall. Personally, I love crazy embellished denim. I think it adds the perfect amount of flare to your look, and it also gives an urban feel to your ensemble. Your cropped denim will pair perfectly with your sock boots.
Because literally they are, da bomb! Bombers are an easy way to update your t-shirt and jeans. Last year it was the leather jacket, and this year it is all about the bomber. This trend is only catching fire; updated looks for spring include satin, embroidery, and texture.
Still rocking those tight tube skirts? As Cher would say, as if. It is time to update your skirt game with a button front corduroy skirt. Not only does it look adorable bare legged, but it will also look great with tights and a sweater come chilly weather. You can read more on how to style your cord. skirt by clicking here.
