Bad Girl RiRi is bringing the fire to Puma this Fall 2016. If you have not figured out by now, athleisure is having a moment in fashion. It girls are starting to swap their heels for feminine sneaks, adding some Cali casual inspired flare to their ensemble. This season Rihanna debuted her FENTY PUMA by Rihanna collection, and it was nothing short of impressive. I had the pleasure to attend the launch in LA, and check out the collection for myself.
Pulling up to the location on Melrose, you could hear the music and catch a glimpse of the black and white collection from the street. If you did not know what the event was, you wanted to know. The vibes were, as I like to call it, “LA cool.” By this, I mean everyone was effortlessly cool– all the urban, creative types. Not to mention, everyone was radiating positive vibes, and I was totally vibing the killer beats. What else would you expect for a RiRi launch?
There was a display in the center of the room with three different looks from the Fenty collection. Next to each look there was a description of the ensemble, including how it incorporated the Japanese street culture into the look. I could not help but try on the maxi kimono track jacket (see photo below). I thought it was very sexy. I could picture it with a low cut body suit, shorts, and her thigh high boots. I would prefer the kimono tricot track jacket, if I were to purchase a piece for versatility. To me, it was a bomber, meets track jacket, meets kimono. This is the piece to sport with anything!
As I walked around the shop, I kept coming back to the lace-up sweatpants and hoodie. Lace-ups are hot right now, and adding them into athleisure gives the apparel a fresh, and updated look. Did I also mention how incredible they feel? I would say it is well worth the price, if athleisure is your thing.
Overall, I enjoyed the event and the FENTY PUMA by Rihanna collection. I felt the event itself, was a great environment to showcase the collection. The only thing that could have made it better would be if I had the opportunity to meet Bad Girl RiRi!
Rihanna brought a fresh, clean, and updated look to not only Puma, but overall athleisure apparel. She introduced a high-fashion take on athleisure wear, deriving from Japanese street culture inspiration. Each piece was very wearable, and could contribute to nearly any fashion babe’s closet, no matter her style.
